I drove to the fire station yesterday with my friends. My mom and dad really drove. Then we took a tour of Mr. William's fire station (Fire Station 11). Then we saw a fire truck with ladders, hoses, air tanks, jackets, boots, overalls, gloves and we got to sit in the fire truck. Then we went to the ambulance. It has supplies to help people when they really, really need help instead of just driving there with your parents.
Then they had a fire. The bell rang and they put on their clothes when they have to go in the fire. Then they hopped in the trucks and they drove off. It was a real fire in a shed.
Then we saw where they slept sometimes when they have to stay at the fire station at night. Then we saw their kitchen with a snack machine in it and pictures of fire and smoke. At the end we got to pick out a toy from Mr. William's super great room filled with toys.
They have to exercise every day with weights, machines and arm wrestling. You have to do arm wrestling to get your arms strong. You have to do push ups.
If I were a fireman I would chop down doors if they were locked. It would be hard. We would be tired sometimes. I would get to ride in the fire truck.

Great post, Nick! That was a fun day. I always wondered why fire trucks were red. I found out that red fire trucks are easy to see so people can clear the way during an emergency. Then I found out that lime/yellow fire trucks are easier to see, especially at night. Maybe someday all fire trucks will be lime/yellow instead of red?

Liked your post! Fire fighting is a hard job and dangerous. Firemen have train really hard.
They don't want to get hurt, but want to put the fire out.

Jennifer - (Julia said, "Cool!") I forgot sort of. This ambulance also had little stuffed animals to calm children down.
Mr. Bill - Sometimes at airports there are yellowish-lime fire trucks in case an airplane crashes. I don't think every fire truck will turn out to be lime/yellow. That way you can tell the difference between airplane fire trucks and fire station fire trucks.
